“you’ll be back”

I swear every single dancer who has announced their retirement has been met with this phrase by some owner or manager. It’s mostly true though. The industry feels like a revolving door at times; veterans trying to leave, dancers needing a break or newbies entering. It’s like this cycle of new faces then familiar faces that made you wonder “where the f*ck have you been?” .

I tried to leave last december because I had high hopes of finding work in another field after my schooling was done. Boy, was I wrong about that! I’m not sure if an entry-level job position even exists anymore and it’s so f*cked. People complain about there being no jobs, or unemployment rates but, it’s really these corporations/employers refusing the give anyone a chance or invest in their own employees. They’re expecting you to come out of school with 1-3 years experience already, or work for free in order to get that status of being experienced enough to that fake “entry” level job. Even these freelance websites expect you to be paying JUST to apply for jobs or be visible on their platform…it’s a total rip off. How’s an unemployed person supposed to manage life AND pay to job hunt? That’s wild. I’m all for investing in a business but, not your business. Unless I’m a partner benefitting from your business, I do not see the point in wasting my money when I can utilize my own skills for myself and my business.

One week I was particularly frustrated with job hunting and I got the call from a club owner asking me to be the third dancer for this massive golf tournament…I jumped at the opportunity and I’m happy I did. I missed the stage, I missed the money, the cheering, the compliments, the laughs and my coworkers. I had a great time and I think it’s safe to say that I’ll be looking at doing more gigs til I’m actually ready to retire. Who knows how long that will be but, does it really matter? Not in the slightest.

I’m back to living my life how I want to and getting stuff done that I’ve always talked about. I made myself a goal to get back on track with this website and, with the help of some generous golfers, I was able to purchase my domain and get back to it. #winning

My next goal is to do some more competitions and take home more gold.

I’m looking forward to getting some more content recorded and organize mt older content and bring back my pole dance conditioning/tutorials for all you “at-home” polers to work on. This time we’re going to be unapologetically authentic and let my name be the face of all this because Vivianne Blaze is back baby!
